Like most website operators, the Turkish Commercial Law Review (TCLR) collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. TCLR’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to understand better how TCLR’s visitors use its website. From time to time, TCLR may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.
In the course of providing our service, TCLR or its service providers may also collect potentially personally-identifying information such as Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. TCLR only discloses logged in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information as described below. Note that if you visit any third-party websites via links from TCLR’s website, this policy does not apply—refer to those sites’ respective policies for more information about their practices.
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to TCLR’s website choose to interact with TCLR in ways that require TCLR to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that TCLR gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who use our online forms, such as to mail an article to a friend or to submit an article for potential publication, to provide various information, such as email addresses, names, and more. TCLR collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with TCLR. TCLR does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.
TCLR may collect statistics about the behaviour of visitors to its website. For instance, TCLR may use third-party services such as Google Analytics to collect such information. The information collected by such third-parties on behalf of TCLR is governed by their respective privacy policies. TCLR may display this information publicly or provide it to others. However, TCLR does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.
Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information
TCLR discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its members, employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that need to know that information in order to process it on TCLR’s behalf or to provide services available at TCLR’s website. Some of those members, employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using TCLR’s website, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. TCLR will not rent or sell your personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its members, employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, TCLR discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when TCLR believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of TCLR, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of the TCLR website or have supplied your email address, TCLR may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with TCLR. If you use our mail-a-friend feature, we will use the information provided for the intended purpose. If you submit articles, notes, or other content or comments for review or consideration, it will be used for that purpose.
